Welcome
Welcome to Poorhouse Quilt Designs!
We hope you can come in, grab a cup of tea, and stay a while!
May is here and that means…. Quilt Market! We had loads of fun at Quilt Market – here is our booth. W
e met loads of nice people – we all had a ball looking at the new fabrics, threads (we were across from Aurifil…love!!), battings and ideas! Portland, OR is such a beautiful city; we enjoyed the cool temps and your lovely restaurants!
This month we are featuring the Turn Around Table Runner! Are you looking for a gift item that doesn’t necessarily look easy? The ”Turn Around Table Runner” is for you! This runner is made from pre-cut 16″ placemats (PM-3 from Bosal Foam and Fiber); add your fabric and an afternoon of sewing and you have an impressive gift!
Other new patterns:
PQD-185 Tea Leaf Christmas Ornaments pattern is new in the Tea Leaf line of patterns, This pattern features 2″ squares pieced int0 6″ ornaments. Each ornament has a secret compartment to hold gift cards, money, scissors and thread! This is a great way to use up bits of Christmas fabric and leftover batting.
PQD-186 Sunflower Nesting Bowls pattern features
a new way to use Heat Activated Batting! This pattern will give you a chance to use this new product and have fun while doing it! This is a great demo for Quilt Shops as well as quilt guilds. The pattern also includes instructions for a cute pincushion!
PQD-187 Fab Photo Frames - this pattern for last minute personalized frames will be your go-to for graduations, weddings, showers, you name it! Use Heat Moldable Stiffeners to quickly create this desktop accessory.
Our newest springy designs include: Butterfly Accents, a wall accent perfect for the sunroom; Essentials Clutches, a quick clutch pattern that uses the newest moldable batting; Nana’s Garden Path, a quick quilt or bedrunner (pattern includes 6 sizes!) made with strips and a 60 degree triangle ruler; and finally A Novel Approach, a tote that uses Novelty prints. Don’t forget to stop by on Thursdays to check out our new blog post - Thursdays are news days at the Poorhouse!
Our goal at Poorhouse Quilt Designs is to inspire you to use your unique talents with our patterns to create something that is all yours! Our success is stitched together with yours!
Holiday sewing? The Poinsettia Bowl pattern also includes a pretty gift pin and a pot of poinsettias! Like the Leaf Bowl pattern, you can add your
personal “stamp” by using those specialty threads and fun trims to the outer edge! We added Hot Fuse Crystals to our pins – can’t resist that sparkle! The bowl patterns feature Inn-spire from Innovative Craft Products. Inn-spire is a stiff moldable non-woven that is just perfect for these bowls!
The Tea Leaf pattern line has expanded to include a Christmas holiday accessory pattern! To make the Tree Skirt, you can use that Christmas Layer Cake that you’ve been wondering what to do with! Just add a pretty background and you will have a beautiful skirt to lay your gifts on. But maybe you won’t want to cover it! We’ve made sure that this tree skirt is wide enough for a large tree – it’s 64″ wide! In addition, we’ve added some simple stockings that are also nice and wide so that you can fill them chock full with goodies!
Just one bowl? No way! We had to add a Pumpkin Bowl! Jack O’Lantern bowls and just pretty pumpkins can adorn your home
this fall – use them to hold your hand sewing tools, your keys or – - – your candy corn! Although, in my house that candy corn doesn’t last too long! You can also invert these bowls so that you can use them to adorn a wreath or a garland as a home accent!
Are you looking for projects that can be finished in a weekend? Whether it’s a gift for family or a project just for you, Poorhouse Quilt Designs has something for you! We welcome you to come on in and browse!
Our patterns are written with the busy quilter in mind. We work hard to ensure that the instructions are written clearly and that the illustrations are drawn accurately. If you ever have any questions regarding any of our patterns, please feel free to contact us.
